Prayer Request & Praise Report In One

I just got back from a family hour and my heart is full of praise.

My father was the only son and had 5 sisters. My father died 20 years ago, 4 of his 5 sisters have died within the last few years (2 in the last 2 months). His remaining sister, Vera, has experienced a multitude of losses in the last few years: 4 sisters, her husband and daughter, and the dog. So, please continue to pray for her, her health and mental state have really declined since November. (taking care of the dog kept her active)

But, this is a praise report. Nina, my dad’s oldest sister, passed last Friday (Dec 5). The family hour was this evening and the funeral is tomorrow. Nina had Alzheimer’s and for most of the last 3 years showed no sign of recognizing who anyone was (including her siblings, children and grandchildren). She was friendly and outgoing, just didn't remember us. She was close to death several times this year, the most recent in October from pneumonia, and had stopped talking. Miraculously, 2 weeks ago, she became lucid. She knew who everyone was and talked and laughed like the aunt I grew up with. She affirmed many and expressed her love. Sunday, Nov 30, Aunt Vera spent a couple hours just talking to her. Then Nina slipped away peacefully, instead of in the hospital, on respirators, etc. It was God’s grace and a gift to all of us. Her grandchildren and great grand children needed to hear her witness for Christ again. And from their conversation at the family hour, it fell on good ground.
