Praise Reports and Prayer Requests

Remember our Sick in prayer

Admit your faults to one another and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous man has great power and wonderful results. James 5:16

Prayer Requests

Prayer requests from Pastor Heron & our sister church’s in Haiti

1. He has an immediate need to “get back to normal” as soon as possible because he is not as young as he use to be and it takes longer for him to bounce back.

2. While he has received promises for funds for the vehicle, he has yet to see the first dollar.

3. He is in need of staff but is not able to pay them and does not like to ask them to raise their own support. He desires to be able to at least provide expenses and benefits. He is not there yet but the work is out there.

Welcome

Henry Kenneth Thomas Vaughn

Born to Leslie Vaughn, Feb 14th, 6:30pm, 8lb,
15 oz

Mother and son are home.

Our eighth has arrived! Henry the eighth, that is !

For academic people this now means we have children in the class of ’12, ’14, ’16, ’18, ’20, ’22, ’24, and ’28. For soccer people, we now have a U16, U13, U11, U9, U7, U5, U3, and U0. For car people, we now have ’94, ’96, ’98, 2000, ’02, ’04, ’06, and ’10 models. And if you’re none of the above, it just means we now have a 15, 13, 11, 9, 7, 5, 3, and 0 year old J. Any way you think of it, we are going to be joyfully busy for quite a while!

So please join us in welcoming our redesigned ’10 model (four star crash test rating), U0 player (with his first cap), valedictorian (so far) of the class of ’28,

HENRY KENNETH THOMAS

born on February 14, 2010 at 6:25pm, weighing 8 lbs. 15 oz., and 21 ½ inches long

We’ve had boys’ names for so long and not been able to use them that we figured Jerome better cram his dedications all together so that we don’t miss our opportunity J. Henry and Kenneth are both Jerome’s dear uncles, his mother’s brothers, and Thomas is Jerome’s best friend from childhood. Uncle Henry is himself named after our Henry’s great-great grandfather, Henry Clay Vaughn, who was an escaped slave who went to a four year black institute (before it was a college), founded and pastored a church, and was the principal of the only school for black children in his community. He also purchased the land that has now been in the family for five generations. Just a little Vaughn family history J.

So now it begins again, from scratch! We are trying to remember what is specific to boys. While much is a blur, I do recall that one has to be very careful when changing diapers. I also seem to remember the Y chromosomehouses the genes for that tendency to make the most common household items into methods of transportation, construction sets, or, better yet, weapons (complete with sound effects). Ah, it’s coming back to me…

This also means that just in time for Jeraf’s graduation in a couple years, Dad will have someone who is veryexcited to open up the trunk full of Hot Wheels and equipment. I will once again have a little one who is a veritable danger to me, every one of his sisters, and himself J. And the girls will have someone to unintentionally horrify by sewing cute outfits for his action figures (because boys don’t play with “dolls”, right, they’re “action figures” – like I said, it’s coming back to me…).

For those who are wondering, “Just how many are they planning to have?”, our response is that we didn’t plan the first eight! We just welcome and cherish them J. So this may be the last one. Or not. After all, I thought Elizabeth was the last one. And Gwen has put in a standing order for twins...

Love,

Jerome and Leslie Vaughn
